How to prepare your vehicle for the winter

Winter is here and the driving conditions are only going to get worse from here on out. There are some simple things you should do to make sure your vehicle is prepared for the cold months ahead. We’ve come up with a couple ways on how to prepare your vehicle for the winter.

View of Tire in Winter

Your tires are very important to keeping you safe on the road. With snow, sleet, and ice on the road, you’re going to need some tires that can grip the road. Make sure to check your tires are not too worn out before the snow starts to fall. A tire rotation or tire replacement may also be a good idea for your car.

Wiper Fluid

With snow and ice on your windshield, you will need some wiper fluid to see clearly. Make sure that you have enough wiper fluid for the winter and if you need more, replace it before you need it. Sometimes it is harder to get stuff off of your windshield and you’ll need wiper fluid to take it off.

Another key part of driving safely in the winter is braking. In order to better protect yourself and your passengers, you will need to make sure your brakes work properly. If your brakes take a lot of pressure to stop properly, you may want to see if you need a replacement. Most brake pads need to be replaced after 25,000 to 50,000 miles so you if your brake pads have been around for that long, you may want to have them replaced.

These are just a few suggestions on how to prepare your vehicle for the winter. If you are looking for a new vehicle this winter, check out our online inventory and schedule a test drive with us at Island Acura today.
